Although the former Saint James Church was a wonderful structure (which held extraordinary memories for so many families) that afforded a genuine community landmark and station for many a parishoner, neighbors and families, the current EMPTY lot is totally UNACCEPTABLE.
After AVA volunteers and Town Officials persuaded the owners/demolishers to reduce the huge pile of rubble that had existed, there again is an immediate need to allow some cost-effective landscaping and allow PARKING in the lot.
All insurance coverage should be met and a curfew could be imposed after a certain reasonable hour (9:PM).
The JAYCEES would be pleased to cooperate with our Town Officials, AVA Members and Civic Organizations with Land Owner[s] to dress up that eye sore in the middle of a community green and business village.
We all have to work together with our new Town Manager and his Assistant along with our elected officials, civic leaders, AVA and Chamber people, our area wide business folks and general citizenry in making such beneficial transitions occur.
The St. James property is [ really PRIME real estate] on private land, we are unfortunately in the midst of an economic crisis and the need for progressive, yet smooth infra structural development has to be supportive and realistic.
The JAYCEES and other community-oriented entities feel that a respectful, ongoing and constant dialogue with a forward-thinking vision is what makes positive changes happen for everyone's betterment.
