Signs
We need better signs to point people in the direction of the great places in West Warwick. There are no signs that I can find that tell people how to get to the River Walk, for example. We should have signs letting people know they've entered one of the neighborhoods like Natick or Crompton. Its just nice to know what's going on - if I see a sign I might pay attention, otherwise I might drive on through to the next town thinking there's not much to W. Warwick.

The JAYCEES working with the Town of West Warwick, Arctic Village Association and Volunteers, have been and continue to stage Beautification / Clean-ups Days in the Arctic Business District.

The JAYCEES would like to see a New SPEED LIMIT (20 MPH) set in the Village (and Legion Way access way);
Regular garbage pick-ups with public and private property owners;
Regular meeting[s] and social gathering[s] for property owners, renters and business people to establish a model of COMMUNITY PRIDE in that vicinity;
Support the official establishment of a MAIN STREET Coordinator;
Taking a lesson from years past, there is an immediate need for a Safety Officer (time intervals) in the Arctic Business District;
Cooperatively involve civic groups, schools, veteran organizations and volunteers to participate in special events, clean-ups and friendly gatherings to maintain a network of association

SIGNAGE is most necessary for Safety, Identification & PROMOTION of an area, municipality or commercial entitiy!

The local JAYCEES had representation on the recent West Warwick Riverwalk (a/k/a Pawtuxet River Walkway ) Project that was christened on August 12, 2007.

Unfortunately, the Town needs to accelerate its efforts with maintaining (planning document) that beautiful Corridor, which connects the huge investment to West Warwick via the Royal Mills Historical Complex.

Just across the way where the JAYCEES maintain an award-winning Arboretum (Created 1998), the state Senator Donald Roch Riverwalk (estb. in 1992) needs a tremendous upgrade that will offer a beautiful wilderness trail that spans over 1.5 miles along the important confluence of the Pawtuxet River watershed Valley.
The Remediation Plan that must be implemented (via EPA/RIDEM) among those existing fields will make that location a more environmentally-friendly recreational facility in accordance with agency standards.

SIGNAGE that is uniform, colorized and clear visible is most significant.

The Town should also look into Red Light Cameras and Web-Based Security Scanning to buttress the concept of securing, safety and anti-vandalism.

Let's work together with our Town Officials and other civic groups to make these areas very attractive, useful and enjoyable to Expand ECONOMIC activity!!

Maybe someone from the town could take a ride through beautiful Main St in East Greenwich and use that as a model for the Village it has all the potential in the world to look like that.

JAYCEES- 20MPH on legion way? I understand that maybe the current speed limit may seem considerably fast to you, but then again you might be one of the folks that does 15MPH and straddles the center line to avoid hitting the guard rail. how about we maintain the realistic (and state law) speed limit for now?

Comment - Rebuttal - The Legion Way road way several years ago was 20 MPH - we are trying to develop a Village Plaza that constitutes strict traffic flow and safety features - with little funds, a community has to make the best of what they have.

Parking is needed, police enforcement must be stepped-up, especially for pedestrian and foot traffic accessibility. Certain areas must install 'Red Light' Cameras to further ensure security, safety and stifle the erratic driving habits and behavior that poses a threat to walkers, shoppers, children, elderly, bikers and other cautious drivers!!

On a personal note, some of us have 'professional' driving experience and skills, something that many drivers DO NOT possess for sure. Some of us have seen people severely injured and killed in these areas by drivers of all ages.

We do a very large DIS-service to all citizens, residents, guests/visitors and drivers when we reach in making off-the-cuff remarks that really are just silly, if not to be construed as foolish in nature.

We urge (you) pitch-in, get involved, become more active in the culture of today's society and community relations - that's what make a city/town/communal family a more wholesome place.
